North and Wells, Chicago, 2017North and Wells is the corner where The Second City theatre and training center are located. I took this photo from the Starbucks which is located on the ground floor. This corner is a great place to watch the Old Town crowd come and go. One of the joys of Chicago.
The view from 52. Chicago, June 2017On a sunny, windy day from my brother's 1 West Superior apartment, 52 floors up. Chicago, June 2017
Clark and Division, Chicago, IllinoisHard to say why I like this picture. It's so normal in Chicago, but perhaps it's the relative lack of people that makes it interesting. Two people crossing the same street, worlds apart. April, 2017 or thereabouts.
Vendor at Chicago Hot Dog FestivalThe hot dog festival in Lincoln Park was kind of fun. Multitude of varieties of hotdogs and other sausage sandwiches. I had an Obama dog, which included pineapple and bacon on top. There was a Rahm dog, some extra spicy jalapeno dogs and many others. And of course, beer.
Lincoln Park TunnelThis tunnel goes under the heavy traffic of East LaSalle Ave, I think.
Bridge on Clark Street, ChicagoVery often when I visit Chicago, my route out of town is down a long stretch of Clark Street from around Chicago Ave down to 22nd Street where I catch the Ryan Expressway. It's always more interesting than taking the expressway from Lake, even if it's sometimes slower. I like this fairly iconic bridge over the Chicago River.
Chicago Music MakerBuskers are everywhere in Chicago, as they are in most major cities. Caught this guy out the car window.
Guys with briefcasesTaking pictures out of the car window seems to be a specialty of mine. These two are an interesting juxtaposition. June, 2017, Chicago.
Inside The Second CityThe Second City trades a lot on the famous folks who have been a part of its mainstage casts and student body. This panoramic presentation of famous faces is in the second floor lounge area, and it can be seen from the North Avenue side of the building.
The Second City and DaveIn 2016 I took a year of comedy writing classes at The Second City in Chicago. I loved it. This was something I never really knew was possible until my son's fiancée suggested I might like to take some classes there. She was in the improv program; I chose writing. Wonderful experience for a guy like me to meet and work with some young smart folks.
